Virginia Lee Cornwell, age 82, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 13, 2013. She was born on June 14, 1930 (Flag Day), in Granite City, IL.

Virginia was a resident of Canyon Country, CA for 50 years, and was a housewife and a teacher's aide at Honby Elementary School where she gave her time and assistance to students who needed extra attention. In her spare time, Virginia loved to garden and she cultivated delicious tomatoes and other vegetables. She was also famous for her chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies, which her children, grandchildren and their friends devoured every time they came to visit. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and visiting with friends and family.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard; daughter Connie Hernandez (Luis); son Fred Cornwell (Mary), granddaughter Brooke Dupuis; grandsons: Hayden and Zachary Cornwell and Eric and Sean Hernandez; sisters: Bea, Olive, and Krethy; brother Dean; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was a vibrant and truly selfless individual who was loved by all who knew her. "Virginia, you will be missed but not forgotten!"

Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 N. Sierra Highway, Newhall, CA 91321.
