Jack H. Ainsworth, 90, of Atoka, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Atoka. He was born Monday, July 10, 1922, to Edward and Bell Ainsworth in Stringtown. He graduated from Stringtown High School and attended numerous Military job related schools. He retired as a supervisor in special weapons at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was in Headquarter Company Combat Command B, 10th Armored Division, and was with the first troop to arrive at the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He married Media Ann Cox on Aug. 3, 1944, in Atoka. He was a longtime member of the Kiowa United Methodist Church and had recently been affiliated with the Stringtown Baptist Church. He was also a 32 degree Mason of the Kiowa Masonic Lodge. He is survived by a son, David Ainsworth, of the home; a daughter-in-law, Linda Ainsworth, of Ada; and grandchildren, Lisa Ainsworth, of Konawa, Landa Ainsworth, of Portland, Ore., Andrea Ainsworth, of Dallas, Texas, and Zachery Ainsworth, of Dallas, Texas. Also, brothers-in-law, Charlie Cox and wife, Eleanor, of Kiowa, and Herb Cox, of Kiowa; nieces, Joyce Ainsworth, of Atoka, Doris Carpenter and husband, David, of Atoka, Lynda Oldham and husband, Larry, of Atoka, Mary Ellen Lillard and husband, Doug, of Norman, Julie Lambert, of Durant, and Violet Walton, of Arizona; nephews, David Isbell, of Nevada, Daryl Isbell, of New Mexico, and Gene Lambert, of Durant; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bell Ainsworth; his wife, Ann Ainsworth; his son, Gary Ainsworth; brothers, Woodrow and Lee Ainsworth; and sisters, Eddie Hight, Lottie Isbell, Lora "Muggs" Self, Edith Lambert and Ora Irene Ainsworth. Pallbearers are Sonny Richards, Randy Harris, Gary McDonald, Jim Marley, Jerry Elrod, David Kellogg, David Clark and Danny Hamilton. Funeral services are Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Stringtown Baptist Church with Dr. James Crowson officiating. Burial will follow at the Kiowa Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Chester Edge, Johnny Holley, Robert Howard, Johnny Self, Kevin Hammit, Scott Hall, Steffan Brown and Dennis Holley.
