Second Lieutenant Beardslee served with the 463rd Bomb Squadron, 331st Bomb Group at Casper Army Air Base, Wyoming.
He was the Co-pilot and one of eight airmen who perished when B-17F Flying Fortress #42-5320 crashed on takeoff at 01:56 hours from the airfield.
The pilot survived but he could not tell investigators how he escaped the burning wreck. They concluded he lost his fix on the horizon and flew into ground.
