ACKERMANN, Joan Marie Nitz, 48, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, on Friday February 1, 2013. She is survived by her parents, Gerald and Peggy Nitz; her siblings, Carol Nitz, Gerald "Jay" Nitz Jr., Timothy Nitz (Kim) and Susan Reynolds (Matt), Deborah Helm (Eric), Angela Ladisky (Kevin) and Cathy Moore; as well as her aunts and uncles, Dotti and Ken Thompson and Bob and Deedle Holsten and a host of cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Holsten Nitz, her grandparents, E. A. and Ann Holsten and John and Mary Nitz. Joan was a graduate of St. Gertrude High School and worked for over 15 years for Silver Spoon and Spoonfed. She loved her Jack Russell, Wilhelmina, who will miss her mom so much. Joan enjoyed traveling, and was especially fond of "the Bay" The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 300 N. Sheppard St., followed by a reception. Interment 2 p.m., Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
