S. Lee Barney, 67, of Everett HCR 4, died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at Altoona General Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1930, in Monroe Township, a son of the late Harry E. and Mary J. (Stayer) Barney.
He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia McCahan; a child, Kerry Barney of Winter Springs, Fla.; three step- children, Amy Reed of Johnstown; Donald Reed (husband of the former Darlene Holderbaum) of North Pole, Alaska; Lori (wife of Dennis Wigfield, Clearville; twin grandchildren raised in his home, Royce and Ryan Brown; six additional grandchildren; two brothers, Jack S. (husband of the former Jean Barnett) and Roger D. (husband of the former Sondra Ownings), both of Everett HCR 4.
He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Lynn Price; a sister,Bernice Ritchey; and a brother,Kenney.
Mr. Barney was a member of the Black Valley Church, and a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1948. He was a retired farmer, avid hunter, bowler in the Wednesday Night Leagues at Chalybeate Lanes, charter member of the Bedford Motor Cycle Club, and was instrumental in starting the hill climbs.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Dalla Valle Funeral Chapel, Main Street, Everett, with the Rev. Frank Wheeland officiating. Burial in the Frame Cemetery.
