Both of Amanda's parents had been born in TN of parents who had settled the area, and Amanda could boast of at least two great-grandfathers on her maternal side, who fought in the American Revolution-Williamson Plant & Charles Thompson. In her youth, the Collier farm was located in Humphreys Co. between Deer Creek & Big Richland Creek. This is where she met her husband Peter. After the war, they married on 24 Dec 1866 by Fr. Louis Orengo at St. Patrick Church, even though the Colliers were not Catholic.
They purchased two tracts of land in District 5, on 2 Nov 1869, from Amanda's father, Arthur Collier. On this farm, they became the parents of ten children. To this day, this farm is still referred to as the 'Pete Connelly place.'
The family remained on this farm until 1907, when they removed to the newly opened Oklahoma Territory, settling near Poteau, Le Flore County. On 11 Jan 1911 they purchased @120A with their two sons Edward & Martin.
Even though Amanda died later that year, she was taken back to the family farm in Humphreys Co, TN for burial.
