Agnes Marie (Peck) Backes, 92, of Lake Stevens, WA, formerly of Wenatchee, WA, peacefully passed away on January 7, 2013. Agnes was the 13th of 15 children born to Thomas William and Lilly Dale (Schampp) Peck, July 29, 1920, in Huron, SD and resided in Pierre, SD. Agnes married Eldon William Backes on December 22, 1937, in Pierre, SD. They resided in Needah, WI (two years), Wenatchee (15 years), Everett (40 years) and Lake Stevens (16 years).

She is survived by her nine children, Brenda Follett of Ephrata, WA, LaVerne (Ray) Schott of Mattawa, WA, Paulette (Steve) Berg of Lake Stevens, WA, Tamara Gregory of Lakewood, CO, Alice (Dave) Wallin of Lake Stevens, WA, Mike of Denver, CO, Tom (Darcie) of Arlington, WA, Tim (Loida) of Everett, WA and John of Everett, WA. She is also survived by her brother, Clifford Peck of La Mesa, CA; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eldon (1995); son-in-law, Dick Follett (2006); her parents; and six sisters and seven brothers.

A special thanks to her next door neighbor of 16 years, Bonnie McKay, and to her caregivers for the last 18 months.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway in Everett. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to your local food bank or to hospice.
