Van Alstyne - Funeral services for Birdie Mae Ashford, 82, of Van Alstyne will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. She died on Sunday, January 4, 1998 near Van Alstyne. The Rev. Jim Poole and the Rev. Mark Streetman will officiate. Burial will take place at Van Alstyne Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Elliot of Sherman; son, William Johnny Ashford of Van Alstyne; three sisters, Opal Patti of Denison, Violet Ashford of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Bonnie Duchaine of Reno, Nevada; brother, Walter Smith of Belton, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a family visitation Monday evening from 7-8 p.m.
