Albert Arndt emigrated to the United States on October 10,1855 and became a citizen on February 4,1860 at Detroit.He was commissioned a Second Lieut. in Battery B,1st Michigan Light Artillery on September 10,1861.At the battle of Shiloh on April 6,1862,he was taken prisoner along with 4 guns and 49 men and was exchanged on September 19th.He was promoted to First Lieut. on May 1,1862 and Captain on September 3,1863.On November 22,1864,he was wounded in battle at Griswold,Georgia.After a promotion to Major on March 14,1865,he was discharged on July 29th.After the war,he was a agent for the Berkshire Life Insurance Co. in Detroit.
