Alice Christobelle (Snodgrass) Griffith

Entiat, WA

Alice Christobelle (Snodgrass) Griffith, a longtime resident of Entiat, WA, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012. The daughter of Charles Christopher and Iva Maude (Smart) Snodgrass, she was born July 14, 1920, at home on Cherry Street in Wenatchee. She was married to Warren Griffith on November 19, 1939, in Wenatchee by Rev. Frank Beatty. Alice and Warren were the first couple of the second generation of couples married by Rev. Beatty. They were married over 56 years at the time of Warren's death in 1996.

Survivors include her children, Carl (Phyllis) Griffith of Entiat, Lois Maloney of Elkhart, IN, Christie (James) Beback of Seattle and foster son, Pete (Milica) Fernald of Clackamas, OR; her grandchildren, Lynn Karagory, Sandy Beiler, Gail White, Bob Griffith, Jennifer Kowaleski, Elizabeth Beback, Joseph Beback and Nikolas Fernald; her great-grandchildren, Allison, Davy, Daniel, Veronica, Campbell, Hagan, Carmen Leah, Owen, Isabelle, and one due in February; and one sister, Virginia (David) Baker of Arizona/White Salmon, WA.

Alice was the wife of an orchardist. She raised her children while working in a local packing house; she assisted owner, Jim Ware, when he had a floral shop in the Valley North Mall in Wenatchee; served as secretary of the Entiat Irrigation District from 1956 to 1972; and served 37 years as a Director and secretary of Chelan County Cemetery District #1. She was an active member of the Entiat Friends Church. She was active in scouting, 4-H, and the PTA as her children grew. She was artistic as she worked with water colors, pen and ink, stained glass, flower arrangements and sewing. Her love for the Apple Blossom Festival was lifelong.
