*WIFE OF RICHARD FIELDS 1749-VA -DIED 1827 RUSSELL COUNTY, VA - his parentage is unknown - the name "James R. Fields" is a fabricated, non-existent name that cannot be found in history. It was NOT Richard's father's name. DNA shows that Richard's father lived in New England and his name may be Richard. Richard Fields' memorial contains many inaccuracies, but the maintainers do not care.

Richard died sometime between September 4, 1827 and December 6, 1827. The appraisal of Richard's estate was recorded December 6, 1827 in Will Book 4, page 352.

Pursuant to an order of the worshipful court of Russell County to us directed. We Benjamin Johnson, Wilson Brown, John Ferguson and Andrew Ferguson, have examined and appraised the slaves and personal estate of Richard Fields deceased as follows. (Will lists several pages of items. Including 7 slaves)

There were also notes owed to Richard at the time of his death. Some of the people that were in debt to the estate were Benjamin Snead, Shadrack Colly, Anderson Hendricks, Bowling Snead, John and James Ervin, James Fields, Joseph Fields, Richard Fields Jr., Joseph Belcher, Jerimiah Belcher, Jessee Belcher, James Musick, John Hickman, Benjiman Mosley and Randolph Buckley.

Shortly after Richards death most of his children had moved from Russell County. Squire Fields had moved to Scott County, VA. Ezekial B. Fields had moved to Hawkins Co., TN. Crabtree Fields had moved to Southern Ohio. Margaret Fields Brown moved to Pike County Kentucky. Lavina Fields married John Boswell and Elizabeth Fields married Andrew Boswell. They both moved to Overton Co., TN. John Fields joined the army in 1812 and didn't return. Richard Fields Jr. may have stayed in Russell Co., VA but I haven't found any information on him.
