James Hunt Michie came to the USA from [Dalhachie, Ballater] Scotland. He first arrived in Boston and then traveled to Cook County, Illinois. He and his wife (Margaret [Katherine] Guthrie, also of [Mens of Mayne, Huntly, Aberdeenshire] Scotland) had three children who survived to adulthood including one daughter [Jane Guthrie Michie] who married Dr. [George Marshall] Fox, the township's physician; another daughter who married David Francis Bremner [Katharine McGregor Michie] who later founded National Biscuit Company; and one son named John Charles Michie who served in the civil war in Company F, 37th Illinois Infantry. Third president of the St. Andrew's Society in Chicago, Illinois.
J.S. Notes: Sag Bridge Cemetery records also show burial records for daughters Agnes, Mary, Margaret, and possibly Harriet (TBD) who did not survive into adulthood. 1860 and 1861 were bad years for the children.
