Mr. Emmett Broadus Allen, age 88, of Florence, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2006, while a resident of Floyd E. "Tut" Fann Home, of Huntsville. He was a native of Lexington, Ala., and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served under Gen. George Patton with the 3rd Army. He was a member of Carpenters Local No. 109 of Sheffield and TVA.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, in Greenview Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Chris Kemp and Fred Dillon.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, James Allen; mother, Mary Hill Allen; brothers, Granville O'Neal Allen and James Reeder Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Sanderson Allen; two sons, Randy Broadus Allen and wife, Sherry, of Yucipa, Calif., and Sam Ray Allen, of Muscle Shoals; three brothers, Waymon Hassell Allen, of Chandler, Ariz., Henry Douglas Allen and Fred Allen, of Greenhill; sister, Evageline Page, of Huntsville; grandchildren, Micheria Dick, of Knoxville, Tenn., Cindy Mead, Shannon Howell, Niki Allen and Krisi Allen, all of Yucipa, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Billy Haddock, Kevin Dick, Doug King, Dale Sneed, Jim Myhan and Wendell Briggs.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Floyd E. "Tut" Fann Veterans Home, of Huntsville, for their kindness and thoughtfulness during his stay there.
