STROKE FATAL TO PEARSON HEMERLY
Pearson Hemerly, well known resident of Mountain, and a figure in musical circles in this section, died suddenly on Sunday afternoon from apoplexy at his home. Mr. Hemerly was seated in a chair in his home when he was seized with the stroke, and was found dead by his wife when she entered the room.
Mr. Hemerly was a correspondent from Mountain for the Patriot for some time. He was looked up to in the community as a business man, and as a musician he has been noted for many years. He was 50 years, 2 month and 4 days old. Mr. Hemerly was a son of the late John and Julia (Lenhart) Hemerly.
He was a painter and had been in the business for many years. He gained a wide acquaintanceship in Northern Berks. He was an acknowledged expert cornet player and for eighteen years was leader of the Star Band, of Mountain. He was a member of the Reformed congregation of New Bethel Church. There survive his widow, Minnie (Zettlemoyer) Hemerly; two children, Helen, Topton, and Paul, at home; these brothers and sisters: Wallace and Lewis, Steinsville; Levi and Mrs. Alaminda Steigerwalt, Allentown; Mrs. Kate Koenig, Jacksonville.
Funeral services were held this (Thursday) at 1.30 p. m., from the home. Further services in New Bethel Church, Rev. Clarence R. Rahn officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery, in charge of Funeral Director Samuel E. Nester, of Steinsville.
