(From a journal written by his daughter) November 5, 1934 – Grandpa was taken sick with a bad heart attack and on Thursday morning (Nov. 8th) at 4:30 God called him to Heaven. Alma sat on his bed a long time Wednesday afternoon and again after supper until bed-time. Part of the time her knew her for he was delirious a great deal. He asked her if she had much school work to do, and then became delirious again. I stood at the bureau fastening on the pompom of Alma's bed room slipper. He asked me what I was sewing. In the morning I told Alma of what had happened while she was asleep.
(From his obituary:) Mr. Zimmermann was walking on Walnut St. on November 5 when he succumbed to a heart attack and had to be taken home by firemen from the Hancock Station. His condition was very serious and he died the following Thursday morning.
