Frances Sydnor Tehie, an accomplished poet who won over 65 awards in national poetry contests, and musician, died on April 15, 2003, one day before her 77th birthday, of congestive heart failure/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She passed away at Centre Community Hospital, State College PA. Following a memorial service at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in State College, her ashes were interred at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg VA, on South Crater Road. She is buried by her parents, Lucy Ann and Elmer Sydnor, Sr.
She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Janice B. Tehie, and husband, Dr. John T. Tehie, who now reside in West Chester, PA, in the Philadelphia suburbs. Her sister, Lucy Ann (Sydnor) Easley, lives in San Pedro, CA. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
