Henry served together in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry with Webster D. Plimpton, who would later marry Henry's sister, Mary, as his first wife.
Henry died unmarried on 9 Dec 1862 of disease. He was 25 years, 8 months and 16 days old.
On 3 Oct 1879 Sarah A. Ball, his mother, received a pension based on Henry's service.
