Armour is the son of Walter Wade Willis Sr and Mary Brooks Mulkey whose grandmother is a sister to Cherokee Chief John Ross.

Armour first married Ruth Ann Rife on 26 Dec 1913 in Oklahoma. They were divorced prior to 1940 and Armour married second Minnie Bell Haywood Baughman.
