BETTY IRENE BARNES BOORD, 84,of Fairmont, West Virginia died Thursday, February 7, 2013 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. She was born November 16, 1928 in Fairmont a daughter of the late George Howard Barnes & Rebecca Pearl Linn Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Ezra Boord on April 27, 2000. She is survived by 2 daughters and a son in law Becky Boord of Fairmont and Sherry & Rick Gillett of Fairmont, a brother and sister in law Thomas & Karen Barnes of Fairmont, a sister Nancy Turner of Mississippi, several nieces & nephews, 7 sister in laws Joann Layne, Laura May Cochran, Sally Boord, Jean & Donald Cosco and Dorothy Lucille Broadwater all of Farmington, WV, Shirley & Bill Conrad and Susie Wright all of Ohio, one brother in law Bill Boord of Farmington and a special friend Ellen Bartlett & Buster. She was preceded in death by a sister Joan Shreve. Mrs. Boord was a retired employee from Wells Flowers of Fairmont. She was Baptist by faith and was baptized with her grandmother and mother at the Baptist Temple in Fairmont with Reverend Dr. William J. Bonner. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. Mrs. Boord enjoyed working the daily newspaper's crossword puzzles, Crocheting and gardening. She enjoyed camping and vacationing at Smoke Hole with her family. The family would like to thank Dr. Perry Hall & his staff and the all of the caregivers at the Genesis Healthcare Tygart Center in Fairmont. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, February 10, 2013 from Noon-2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend David Cyphers & Reverend Drew Long officiating. The entombment service will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum in Fairmont.
