Grover D. Long
Grover D. Long, 87, died Jan. 29,2005, in his Blandon residence.
He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma A. (Cook) Long, on Dec. 15, 1988.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Grover V. and Laura M. (Dimler) Long.
Long was co-owner of Berks Traffic Service, Blandon, for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.
Long was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a past board member of the Fleetwood School District, Tarsus Inc., and Tarsus Manor, Fleetwood; and aided in the founding and served on the board of the Tarsus community bus.
Long was past president of the Reading Square and Compass.
He was past president of the Fleetwood senior citizens.
Long, who resided with Sarah E. Essick, is survived by a son, Grover R., Gales Ferry, Conn.; and two daughters, Marion L. (Long) Whitlock, Kennett Square, Chester County; and Marjorie J. (Long) Ahrens, Shillington.
There are also seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Mae A. Stump Funeral Home Inc., Fleetwood. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
