James E. O'Leary, 61, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in UMass Hospital, after an unexpected illness.

He was born in Biddeford, Maine, on September 23, 1951, the son of Jeremiah J. and Shirley (Niddrie) O'Leary, Jr. He graduated from Biddeford High School before attending the University of Southern Maine, Quinsigamond Community College and Clark University.

Jim's career at Worcester City Hall, spanned twenty-six years; most recently working as Payroll Supervisor in the Auditing Department in City Hall, for the past nine years. He had previously worked as the assistant to the Election Commissioner and had also worked in the Treasurer's Office. He was a conscientious worker who never took a day off.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph in Worcester, where he was on the Parish Council and was actively involved in parish programs. He enjoyed reading, learning different languages, visiting Hills Beach in Maine and had a plethora of information regarding his hometown of Biddeford.

Besides being a dedicated worker, he was a loving and devoted husband and father, who enjoyed sharing a good joke or something funny with all those around him. He loved his home-life and the opportunity it afforded him to be with his family and to putter in his yard.

Jim is survived by his loving family including his devoted wife of twenty-five years, Donna M. (Campanale) O'Leary; his loving children, a son, Jeremiah "Jerry" G. O'Leary; two daughters, Maria G. O'Leary and Erica C. O'Leary, all of Worcester; his mother, Shirley (Niddrie O'Leary) Smith of Sanford, Maine; a sister in law, Rosalie Fiorino and her husband William of Worcester; a brother in law, Nicholas Campanale in Nevada; several nieces, nephews, a great niece and cousins, along with many dear friends. Jim was pre-deceased by his sister, Eileen O'Leary-Lewis in 2008.
