Civil War Confederate Army Officer. He served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 19th Mississippi Infantry regiment. He was killed at the "Bloody Angle" during the May 12, 1864 Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia, having only assumed command of the regiment two months earlier.
