He served in Company A of the 41st Tennessee Infantry, participating in the following battles: Perryville, Vicksburg, Port Hudson Raymond, seige of Jackson, Hood's Tennessee campaign, being wounded and losing an arm and being captured at Franklin. He was exchanged at City Point, March 5, 1865.Morgan was buried in his Confederate uniform and the flag of the Forty-first Tennessee was draped around his casket.The funeral service was conducted by Elder T.C. Little, another Confederate veteran.
