ROSABELLE "ROSIE" EDWINA ABELS died August 3, 2008 in Arkansas City, KS at the age of 95. Rosie was born in August 1912 in Clay Center Kansas, the daughter of Frank Kimbrough and Rosa Edwina Gillespie. She was raised in Clay Center and graduated from Clay Center High School. She married Henry Abels on September 16, 1931 in Clay Center. They lived and farmed in Blaine township until moving to Clay Center in 1988. Henry preceded her in death on August 3, 1999. She moved to Gran Villas at Medicalodge in Clay Center in 2004 and later moved to Medicalodge in Arkansas City in 2005. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday and Bible School. She is also preceded by a son, Barry, a grandson and a sister.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Joyce Gibbs, Arkansas City, KS

Daughter: EJ Abels, Irving, TX

Grandchildren: 2 Grandsons and 4 Great-grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas.

Officiating the service will be Rev James Byers.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home

Memorials can be made to Clay Center Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund or the Humane Society c/o the funeral home.
