Louis was born May 5, 1942 in Gorman, TX and passed away July 31, 2011 in Rowlett, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Rubye Lee Mehaffey; and son, Shea Louis Mehaffey. Louis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Ann Tomlinson Mehaffey; daughter, Noelle Anne Mehaffey Chilton and husband Bryan; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Mehaffey, Allegra Shea Melton, Dakota Wayne Melton and Haley Chilton; great-grandson, Aidan Allred; brother, Stephen Alan Mehaffey and wife Mary Ann; nephew, Garret and wife Deanna; and 2 great-nephews. Louis graduated from Sulphur Springs HS in 1960, and graduated from East Texas University with a BMED in 1964 and a MMED in 1965. He married Carol Ann Tomlinson from Mesquite and had 2 children, daughter Noelle and son Shea who passed away in 1982. Louis was a band director for 38 years to many successful high school bands. He was camp manager for several years in the late 60s for the SMU Big D Music Camps. Louis organized, promoted and hosted 6 district bands, 2 bi-district bands and the North Texas area select bands. He was also a part-time professional photographer and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as their Chief Photographer for several years. A Memorial Service to celebrate Louis' life will be held Monday, August 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite, 1028 South Belt Line Rd Mesquite, 75149, officiated by Dr. Tom Wilbanks. Donations may be made to the Cal Farley Boys Ranch, www.calfarley.org, or to the SPCA of Texas, www.spca.org.
