He died at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at The Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born on Sept. 7, 1932, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Norman and Ida Engler. He was a nationally known Master Woodcarver.
He was the owner of Peter Engler Designs in the Grand Village and was dedicated to the Branson community. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He had been a resident of the area since 1962. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Engler of the home; five children, Richard Engler and wife Kathy of Camas, Wash., Laurie Engler-Brokate and husband Gerald of Branson, Mo., Teresa Railsback and husband Mike of Plano, Texas, Rachel Simpson and husband John of Liberty, Mo., Sara Haslag and husband Joe of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Patricia Kellams of Lakeview, Ark., Gretchen Stevens of Cumbria, England, Donna Wooten of Hutchinson, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday after the graveside service at the Silver Dollar Parlor Room inside the Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks.
