Gary Deane Aston, 78, passed away on Tuesday February 5, 2013.
He was born on Friday, September 21, 1934 in Long Beach, Calif., and was the son of Joseph Edgar Aston and Evelyn Alice (Ball) Aston.
Gary Graduated from Eagle Rock High School in 1953.
He owned and operated the 7-Eleven on Cook Street in Santa Maria From 1978 to 1983.
Gary met and married Theresa LaMere in 1976. While running the 7-Eleven, raising a son, help raising a daughter, He went to Allan Hancock College where he earned a BS degree and later attended the police academy.
He was hired by Grover Beach Police Dept. where he worked and retired as a sargeant in 1999 after 20 years of service.
While working at the police Dept. he started teaching at Allen Hancock College Police Academy and Administration of Justice. He retired in January of 2013 after 26 years of teaching.
Gary was a member of the Santa Maria Elks #1538, International Foot Printers #73 and American Legion in Orcutt Calif.
Mr. Aston is survived by his wife Theresa (LaMere) Aston of 37 years, son, Eric Lewis, daughter, Jennifer Aston, brother, Edwin Aston, sister, Andrea Kunau.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edgar Aston and Evelyn Alice (Ball) Aston.
