Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Allen served in the Civil War.
I found a pension record for his widow/wife signed Jane Southerland Allen, her full name is Sarah Jane Southerland 1812-1884. She filed for a widow's pension in 1884, but I think she passed shortly after that. So the date on "Jeff's" headstone in the Mount Zion Baptist Church is not right. It state's death in 1885 and its wrong, it should be 1883.
