Mr. Carter, a native of Macon, had lived in Commerce for the past 2&1/2 years. He was a steel worker, a Baptist, and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Betty P. Carter of Commerce; two sons, Ruck Carter of Commerce and J. P. Carter of Warner Robins; a daughter, Mrs. Lonnie Taylor of Hattisburg, Miss.; two stepsons, Brian Whitehead of California and Randy D. Parker of Vidalia; his mother, Margaret Carter of Commerce; a sister, Mrs. Willie A. Bone of Commerce; three brothers, Carl W. Carter and Robert W. Carter, both of Macon and Lamar Carter of Midway; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home from 7 to 9pm today.
