Mr. Travelstead was employed by the Family Affair Sanitation Company in DeSoto. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard and the First Methodist Church in Carbondale. He graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1978.
Mr. Travelstead was riding in a car driven by Brett Huot of Carbondale. He fell out of the car and was struck by another car driven by Thomas Burger of Murphysboro.
He was 20 years old at the time of his death.
