Glen Jennings Was Mail Carrier And A Family Man
Glen Jennings was born on Sept. 5, 1921, to Lon and Gertie Shepherdson Jennings at Lebanon. He died quietly in his sleep at Brodstone Memorial Hospital Superior, Neb., the morning of June 29, 1997.

Glen grew to manhood in Lebanon, graduating from high school in 1939. He married Dorothy Goddell on July 11, 1942, and to this union three children were born, Gary Eugene, Larry Dean, and Linda Marie.

Glen spent most of his life in Lebanon. He served in the Air Corps. and after service dismissal was in the hospital for a year. During the 1980's, Glen and Dorothy moved to Amherst, Neb., and Glen continued as a rural mail carrier while striving to hold his farming operation together in Lebanon.

Glen enjoyed having fun and was a great prankster. He was an ambitious person and Dorothy was his helpmate in everything. His love for old cars started him in the restoration business. He restored many old cars and kept for himself a 1929 Dodge. One of his cars is in a Rolla, Mo., museum. He had a machinery lot to display Fordson tractors which he restored like new.

After Dorothy's death in August 1982, Glen and Marietta Jennings became friends, and this friendship led to their marriage Aug. 6, 1983. Glen's latest project was the old wooden-wheeled windmill which stands near the house.

Glen was thoughtful with the virtues of "the fruit of the spirit," as written in the Bible. In his later years, he became student of the Bible. When asked to be an elder in the church, he accepted and received the fulfillment in his heart for peace and growth in the Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta, of the home; his children, Gary and wife Terry; Larry and wife, Susan; and Linda and husband Franklin Feist; and their families; and other family members and friends.

The funeral was July 2nd at the First Christian Church, Lebanon, with Rev. Arden Roush officiating. The musicians were Liz Roush and Doti Burgess.

Casket bearers were Kelly Roush, Val Burgess, Leland Roush, Bill Befort, Rand Merritt, Kent Stones, and Joe Delimont. Burial was at Cedar Hill (Cora) Cemetery, Bellaire.
