A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Tigard Christian Church for Bruce Edward Nelson, who drowned July 19 at age 50.
Bruce Edward Nelson was born Jan. 28, 1958, in Portland. He graduated from Marshall High School and Trinity University in Illinois and received a master's degree from Northern Illinois University. He lived in Albany before moving to Tigard in 1999 and was a special-education language arts teacher in Albany and then at Newberg High School for the past three years. In 1999, he married Linda Holland-Owen.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Amy; son, Nathan; stepsons, Jason Owen and Christopher Owen; sister, Chris Jones; brothers, Warren James Nelson and Rodney Nelson; and five grandchildren.
