Gilmer Anderson passed away at the age of 94 years and 293 days on February 8, 2013 at the Life Care Roseau Manor, in Roseau, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow at the Northwood Cemetery, Northwood Township, Beltrami County, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Saturday at the church.

Gilmer Anderson was born April 21, 1918 on a farm near Gully, MN, the son and 11th child of Andrew and Lena(Norskog)Anderson. He grew up in the area and attended country school near Grygla.

On February 24, 1936, Gilmer was united in marriage to Frances Skime in the Wannaska, MN parsonage. The couple made their home and farmed in Big Grass Township, Beltrami County, MN near Grygla, and then spent a short time in the state of Washington working at various jobs before moving to Wyoming where Gilmer worked in the oil fields for 10 years. In 1951 they returned to farm in Veldt Township, Marshall County, MN also working in construction, driving truck and working in the woods until 1968 when they moved into Thief River Falls where Gilmer worked at Arctic Cat holding various jobs before retiring as production superintendent. In 1976 Gilmer and Frances moved to Kimball, MN and went into hog farming with their son, Darrel. In 1980 they returned to Thief River Falls, MN where they resided until Frances passed away on May 19, 2008 and Gilmer moved to Oakland Park Care Center and later to the Life Care Roseau Manor.

Gilmer enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting, singing, playing cards, hunting all kinds of animals and birds, trapping and he loved to fish. The last few years in the Care Centers he was the lead singer, and loved to sing to family and Friends, especially on their birthdays.

Gilmer is survived by 3 sons: Darrel, Ocala, FL, Richard "Red" (Judy), West Fargo, ND and Jerry (Karen), Baudette, MN; 10 grandchildren, Darrin (De) Anderson, Dana Anderson, Danny Anderson, Malina O'Connor, Jennifer Anderson, Jodi (Tim) Kozan, Roger Anderson, Michael Anderson, Jason (Sarah) Anderson and Jamie (Mary Beth) Anderson; 16 great grandchildren, Taylor Anderson, Austin Anderson, Micaela Anderson, Hunter Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Nathan O'Connor, Sean O'Connor, Kathryn Langevin, Alexander Langevin, Jaclyn Kozan, Jessica Kozan, Justine Kozan, Ella Anderson, Cody Anderson, Kylie Anderson, Hunter Anderson and Dalovin Anderson; sister in-law Delila Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Frances; parents; 7 brothers: Clarence (Alice), Ben (Ethel), Alton (Adella), Theodore, Orvis (Barbara), Berg and Clarence; 5 sisters: Bergina, Olive, Tillie, Sara (George), Helen (Heman); daughter-in-law Myrna Anderson and grandson, Richie Gilmer Anderson.
