Andrew J. Blasco, Sr, 85, of Winsted, died peacefully at home on Saturday (June 1, 2002).

Born in Hartford, the son of of the late John and Emma (Zack) Blasco, he lived most of his life in New Britain, moving to Winsted 12 years ago. He had been employed by the New Britain School System for many years, retiring in 1972.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 7th Armored Infantry Battalion earning three Bronze Stars, and he was a former member of St. Jerome Church. He was the husband of the late Irene (Baxer) Blasco.

Mr. Blasco is survived by two sons, Andrew and his wife Monika Blasco of Kensington, Ed and his wife Cathy Blasco of Danbury; four daughters, Ruth and her husband Billy Shine of Winsted, Irene and her husband Ted Naumec of Willimantic, Maryann and her husband John Normandeau of Windsor, and Marie Messina of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a sister, Helene Dunklee of New Britain; 14 grandchildren, Ben, Hilary, Molly, Matt, Lisa, Alli, Danny, Brian, David, Sarah, Jessica, Nicholas, Katie, and Holly; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Emile Blasco and Steven Blasco; and two sisters, Lillian Fredericks and Wilma Blasco.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome's Church, 1010 Slater Rd, New Britain. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 7-9 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain. Published in The Hartford Courant on June 3, 2002
