GILBERT, Harold Eugene, 77, of Wintersville, Ohio, died Thursday evening February 14, 2013, after a long illness at Trinity East.
He was born in Cherry Valley, Ohio on February 25, 1935, the son of the late Charles Blair and Bertha Slentz Gilbert.
Harold was also preceded in death by a grandson, Mathew and a brother David Gilbert
Harold was a graduate of Hopedale High School. He worked for over 35 years at Columbia Gas Co. He was an Army veteran serving over eight years in the military.
He was married to and survived by Barbara Ohle Gilbert, of Wintersville, for 45 years, and is also survived by a daughter, Sally (John) Adams of Wintersville; son, Cary Gilbert of Lancaster, Ohio; four children, by a previous marriage, Rick, Randy, Ruth Ann, and Tracy Gilbert; three brothers, Carl (Vera) Gilbert of Wisconsin, Ralph ( Diane) Gilbert of Wisconsin, Chuck Gilbert of Alaska; one sister, Evelyn Slaten of Newnan, Ga., four grandchildren, Erica (Mark) Grantonic Dalton Gilbert, Jordan Gilbert, Courtney Gilbert two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Coulton Grantonic.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home, at 324 High St. in Hopedale, on Monday February 18, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with services there on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. Pastor Hubert Granger will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.
