Columbus, GA- SGM (Ret.) Andrew "Andy" J. Britton, 80 of Columbus, GA died peacefully Friday, February 15, 2013.
A Memorial service with full military honors will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Morningside Presbyterian Church, 4142 Weems Rd., Columbus, GA with Pastor Stephanie Boaz officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.
SGM (Ret.) Britton was born July 21, 1932 in Corsicana, Texas son of the late Burnice Britton and Marie Motley Britton. He retired after 26 years with the U. S. Army as a Sgt. Major. He was the manager of Modern TV and Appliance for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Frances J. Britton of Columbus, GA; daughters, Kathy Akers (Tim) and Andrea K. Britton all of Lampasas, TX; sons, Russell L. Britton (Kim) of Albuquerque, NM and Shawn J. Britton of Columbus, GA; as well as U.T. Chu (a very special friend) He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; sister, Bobbi Chipman and brothers, Beau (should be Bo) Britton and Kenneth R. Britton.
Andrew was a loving husband, father, grandfather and foster father and will be missed by all who knew him. He was involved with Kiwanis Club of South Columbus, Treasurer of his Neighborhood Association and Elder at Morningside Presbyterian Church.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to Morningside Presbyterian Church.
