Richard Gene Steeprow, 69, died Friday in Albany.
Richard was born in Corvallis on June 15, 1943. He was the son of James Steeprow Sr. and Naomi Gee Steeprow of Alsea. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he worked as a crystal-bar operator for Wah Chang from 1967 until he retired in 2008.
He married LaDonna Finley in September 1967. The couple enjoyed camping with family and going to the casino and winning together. Richard liked to hunt, fish and go clam digging. He enjoyed spending time with his family. The couple had three children, Carie, Michael and Chris.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, LaDonna; and his parents. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Carie and Brett Wakefield of Albany, Michael and Kristi Steeprow of Sherwood, and Chris and Martina Steeprow of St. Helens; six grandchildren, Mason and Braden, Max and Megan, and KaythRyne and Cole; and three brothers, James, Les and Ed.
He will be remembered by his family and friends as a man who never had a bad word to say about anybody.
A graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Alsea Cemetery, followed by a potluck gathering at Alsea Christian Fellowship.
