Lawrence J. Pikarski, 93, Mooreton, ND, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN.

The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Mooreton, ND with Rev. Peter Anderl officiating..

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, N.D. and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Lawrence was born on September 14, 1919 in Wahpeton, ND to Stanley and Alexandra (Kobilinski) Pikarski. He grew up in Ibsen Township near Mooreton, ND and attended Ibsen Township school. He later took a welding course at the North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, where he met his future wife. On October 17, 1953 he married Roseamond Buraas at Larimore, ND. The couple then moved to the family farm near Mooreton where they raised their children. Lawrence farmed with his father until his death when he took over all the farming responsibilities. Rose passed away July 20, 2011, Lawrence continued to live on the farm.

In his youth he was a pitcher for various small town baseball teams, was an avid bowler and in later years Lawrence was in many local pool leagues; where he still played into his 90's. His greatest passions were hunting, fishing; and trapping. He will be remembered by many for his stories he loved telling.

He is survived by his children, Bruce Pikarski, Breckenridge, MN, Ray (Amy) Pikarski, Hatton, ND, Mona Pikarski, Mooreton, ND, Barry (Judy) Pikarski, Mooreton, ND, Carla (Ken) Hall, Johnson City, TN, Al (Sue Dietz) Pikarski, Waverly, MN, Dana (Denise) Pikarski, Browns Valley, MN and Chad (Teresa Johnson) Pikarski, Wahpeton, ND, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roseamond on July 20, 2011 and 3 children, Gene, Brian and Kevin Pikarski and a brother Ed.
