Born August 7, 1919, in Clay City, Illinois, Harold Sanford Hagen was a son of Everett and Ida Mae (Penn) Hagen.

A World War II Army veteran, Harold served with the Branch Immaterial, Warrant Officers division. Harold was employed as a carpenter for Johnson Tinfoil and Metal Company in Saint Louis, Missouri for 30 years. He married Maudie May Kennon on September 4, 1948 in Saint Louis, Missouri. They had seven children.
