Joseph Baker was born in Tippecanoe, Washington Twp., Harrison Co., Ohio. He married Florence Hudson in 1900. They were living in Tuscarawas County, Rush Township, Ohio when the 1910 & 1920 census was taken. He was a farmer.
After 1920 Joseph & Florence moved to Idaho. They had children Milton, Olive and Joseph born in Ohio. The children remained in Idaho the remainder of their life.

The Daily Reporter from Dover, Ohio ran an obit on 8 January 1968.

Joseph C. Baker, 89, of Filer, Idaho, died there Saturday afternoon. Born here, he was a son of the late Robert and Marinda Davidson Baker and he was a retired farmer. He left Ohio in 1923. His wife, the former Florence Hudson, died in 1952. Surviving are a son Edward of Filer; a daughter, Mrs. Olive Klrby of Arco, Idaho, and 5 grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison with Rev. Glenn Brunstetter officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park.
