She was married to George W. Banfield. They had one son, George W. Banfield Jr. She was a sister to Marie (basil) Loreth, G. Pearl(Basil) Gessel, Chester Basil, Gilbert Basil, Roy Basil, Helen (Basil) Clevland, and Lorraine (Basil)Graham- Carmichael. Her parents were Charles and Rose (Stevens) Basil. She died in a nursing home in Springfield, IL. She was mostly a housewife but did work for awhile at St. Vincent Hospital in house-keeping dept..Dorothy M. Welge, 77, Tovey, died at 9:49 a.m. Sunday, June 20, 1999 in West Abby at
Springfield, Illinois.
Mrs. Welge was born October 8, 1921 in Jeisyville, the daughter of Charles W. and Rosana
Stephens Basil. She married George W. Banfield at Taylorville on April 19, 1938 and he died
April 12, 1971. On June 26, 1976, she married Fred Welge at Taylorville and he preceded her
in death on June 9, 1999. Mrs. Welge was a housekeeper at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are one son, George E. Banfield, Springfield; one sister, Lorraine Carmichael,
Jeisyville; one granddaughter, Susan O'Donnel and husband Dennis, Springfield; one grandson
Damon Banfield of Charlotte, South Carolina and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her parents and both husbands.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, in the Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid,
with Dr. Earl W. Turner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, in the funeral home at Kincaid.
