Per Kim Hoelscher Daniels of Krakow, sent to me in 2012 to clarify confusion and reasons why this line has been so hard to locate at cemeteries:

Philip Amelung's wife was not a Trentmann. Her maiden name was Anna Sophia DRANSMANN. In German the pronunciation of "D" and "T" are similar and because Trentmann is also a common name in Krakow, her name was misspelled. Anna Sophia Dransmann was the widow of David Noelker also of Krakow. They were my ggg grandparents. David died while she was pregnant with her ninth child. She then married Philip Amelung and had two more children. The census records show her older children named Noelker as part of their household. She was the sister of Anna Maria Dransmann Hoelscher of Krakow, Anna Engele "Angela" Dransmann Reuber Miesner of Krakow, and Anna Elizabeth Dransmann Gruppenhof of St. Louis. (Note - Gruppenhof is sometimes spelled with the double "p" in the census records - Anna Elizabeth is buried at Old Saints Peter and Paul in St. Louis. They have her maiden name as Drausmann because that's what it looks like on her death certificate.) All four sisters were born in Osnabrueck Germany in the early 1800's. Their parents were Casper Dransmann and Mary Katherine Nobbe. Casper's burial record is at St. Francis Borgia. He died in 1855 at the age of 80. Katherine Dransmann, his widow then lived with her widowed son-in-law Henry Hoelscher (Hulcher) as seen on the 1860 census.

If my memory is correct, Sophia's maiden name is spelled "Transmann" in SFB's handwritten records, and when it was transcribed later, someone assumed it was "Trentmann". When germans trill the "r" in a "dr" combination it's very easy for an English speaker to hear "t". To my knowledge the four Dransmann sisters were the only ones with this last name so whoever transcribed it went with the more common name of Trentmann. It wasn't until I looked at the actual handwritten record that I noticed it myself.

2017 - Update from Findagrave contributor (#46901260):
I have been in contact with the historical society in Osnabrueck. They gave me lots of information regarding Casper Dransmann. According to their records, he was born 22 August 1779 in Altenhagen. His parents were Johann Heinrich Dransman born 3 October 1748 in Altenhagen, died 6 February 1802 in Altenhagen and Margarethe Elisabeth Otte born 1747 in Beckerode and died 18 January 1828 in Altenhagen.. They also had six other children.
