Thomas Maurice Connally died May 5 at his home at Eagle Pointe on Lake Monroe.
He was born in Peru, IN, on August 5, 1932, lived in Washington, D.C., Versailles, Fort Wayne (Graduated from Southside High School), Tipton, and Muncie. He retired in 2003 and moved to Bloomington where he planned to work as an artist with his wife, Sandi.
From 1986 to 2003 he owned his own business in Muncie, Thomas Connally & Associates; a design, media placement, advertising and marketing service. During this time he received a Best Designer Award for excellence in design.
The twenty-three years prior to 1986 Connally was employed at Indiana Glass Company in Dunkirk as Manager of Design and Product Development. In 1968 he designed a line of handcrafted (hand-blown) contemporary art glass called Greenwich Flint-Craft that is desirable to collectors today.
Before the years at Indiana Glass, a subsidiary of Lancaster Colony Corporation, he juggled a split assignment at Ball State University in Exhibits and Display and set designer for the Shoestring Theater.
After graduating from Ball State Teacher's College in 1959 he was employed as an art teacher at Tipton High School and Middle School. He taught a short time at Kuhner Junior High for Muncie Community Schools.
Mr. Connally served at Fort Knox, KY for the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church in Muncie for twenty eight years.
Avocational interests include classic cars, motorcycles, antiques and art.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra (Sandi) Oppy Connally, Bloomington, retired art teacher with Muncie Community Schools; a daughter, Leslie Erin Hosier, Parker City, Veterinary Technician at Cicero Veterinary Clinic, Cicero; and a son, Tyler Maurice Connally, Marketing Coordinator at Worm's Way, Inc., his wife Christionna, of Bloomington: six grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Lane, Lexus Hosier of Parker City; Sawyer, and Larue Connally of Bloomington, and many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, in Crawfordsville, and cousins in Peru.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Mildred Hackley Connally of Fort Wayne.
Funeral Service will be at College Avenue United Methodist Church, Muncie, on May 7 at 7 o'clock with calling hours from 3 -5:00 the same day. Officiating at the service will be Emily and Woody Sears and Rev. Ken Puent.
Burial will be at the New Richmond Cemetery the following day, May 8 at 3:00. P.M.
