LUCILLE MAY SHIELDS
was born to William and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick on May 5, 1921 in Darrouzett, Texas. She passed from this life December 13, 2011, in the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas. She was 90 years of age.
While she was a young child her family moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school.
On June 28, 1942, Lucille was united in marriage to Harry Dean Shields. For most of their married life they made their home on a farm outside of Arnett, Oklahoma. There they raised their three daughters, Dolores, Ellen, and Nina.
After Harry's passing in 1986, Lucille continued to live alone on the farm until her health would no longer permit it.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry and twin sons, lost at birth, Larry Kay and Cary Ray; also her parents, William and Elizabeth; all her brothers, Ralph, Victor, Reuben "Kirk" and Leland as well as her Shields sisters that she loved as her own.
Lucille leaves her three daughters to mourn her passing, Dolores Daniels (Dwight) of Beloit, Kansas, Ellen Montgomery (John) of Boise City, Oklahoma and Nina Nickel (Jerry) of Arnett, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Paula Daniels Hofaker (Jay) of Logan, Kansas, Douglas Daniels of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia, Jason Montgomery of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ronnie and Brian Nickel, both of Woodward, Oklahoma; three great-granddaughters, Kayla Hofaker, Faith Hofaker and Avery Daniels; sister, Vivian Sisson of Oklahoma City as well as many nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Arnett, Oklahoma with burial following in DeBolt Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Arnett, Oklahoma.
