Marie Montague was born in March of 1884. She always claimed that she was born in Virginia, but no proof of that exists. It is far more likely that she was born in Ohio, as were both of her parents. Most census records say OH, unless she gave the information. She was the daughter of Francis Marion Montague (2nd husband of four for his wife) and Mary Ann Conard(his second wife of three). She was the only child of this union.
She married Ottillia Ford McCrady 0n Aug. 25, 1904. They had three girls: Marianne Cecile, Leila Maxine, and Sue Jeannette McCrady (my Mother).
I don't know a lot about her. My mother said she was a "nurse", however, not an RN. She had rheumatic fever as a child, and it left her with a damaged heart that eventually led to her death. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter Max in Redwood City, CA.
