East Bloomfield — Mrs. Maude Ross White, died in her farm home on the Ionia Road yesterday morning following a year's illness. Born in Farmington, the daughter of the late Willard Ross and Ellen Van-Allen Ross. She came to East Bloomfield in 1906 to teach school and the same year was married to Charles R. White and had since resided at the homestead. Her husband, who died several years ago, was a well- known Ontario County Republican and was director of co-operation of the Department of Farms and Markets of New York State and chairman of the Governor's Advisory Committee on agriculture for the State of New York. During his lifetime the couple spent much of the time in Albany.
Mrs. White was prominent in Republican politics, she took an active part in Ontario County 4-H Club work, was a leader of a former Girl Scout troop in Ionia, a member of the Ionia Grange, of the Ontario County Pomona Grange and of the National Grange and of the First Congregational Church in East Bloomfield. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ellen Ross, who resided with her; a sister, Mrs. A. L. Clapper of Canandaigua; three [step] sons, Oliver W. and Edwin E. of this place and Albert W. White of Canandaigua; eight grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the home at 2:30 p. m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Ionia Cemetery. The Rev. W. Heber O'Hara, pastor of the Congregational Church of East Bloomfield, and the Rev. Howard V. Moses, pastor of the Methodist Church of Ionia, will officiate.
