Eleanor G. (Beck) Heismeyer, daughter of Nicholas Glenn and Marian (Potter) Beck, was born June 8, 1917 at Winfred, South Dakota. She received her education in Winfred and graduated from Winfred High School in 1935. Eleanor continued her education at Madison Eastern in Madison, South Dakota, where she received her Teachers Certificate. She taught elementary school in Estelline for two years before her marriage to Fred "Fritz" Heismeyer on June 22, 1939 in Winfred. They farmed west of Estelline until the fall of 1979 when they moved into town. Fritz died on November 3, 1984 and she continued to make Estelline her home. Eleanor died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 95 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline, the Extension Club and the Study Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and working crossword puzzles.
Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Roxanna Diede of Scotland, SD, Pamela Vohlken and her husband Richard of Watertown, SD; one son Gerald Heismeyer and his wife Beatrice of Plankinton, SD; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister Sharon Anderson and her husband Alfred of Springfield, MO; one sister-in-law Wilma Beck of Madison, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, one granddaughter, her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Her memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Estelline.
