Dorothy was born to Zackariah and Pearl Adam Dover. She grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Lawrence in the early 1950's. There she worked at Joe's bakery for 30 years until her death. She married Jack Armstrong on March 31, 1964. He died in 1992. After her husband's death, she lived with her companion, J.W. Basinger, until his death.Survivors include two daughters, Carolina Cobb and Jackquline Waddell, three sons, Richard Baker, Michael Armstrong and Timothy Armstrong, a brother, Zackariah "Sonny" Dover, four sisters, Betty Petty, Mary Guthrie, Elizabeth Wilson and Loraine Putnam, 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She passed away at Lawrence Memorial Hospital at the age of 66. Her services were graveside at 2PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
