Phares Arnold, an aged and highly respected citizen of this community, passed away at his home southwest of this city, Sunday morning after only a few hours illness.
Mr. Arnold, who was past 76 years of age, (sic) was in town Friday. On Saturday he was taken suddenly ill, suffering from a cerebial (sic) hemorrhage. A physician was quickly summoned and all was done that could be done for him but to no avail. This was the first time Mr. Arnold had ever been sick or taken any medicine in his life.
Funeral services were conducted at M.E. Church South Monday afternoon by Rev. Crowder. Interment was made in the cemetery nearby.
