EDWARDSVILLE - Henry J. Ax, 72, died at 8:52 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 1991 at Anderson
Hospital in Maryville.
Ax was an operating engineer for more than 30 years before retiring, and was a member of
Granite City Operating Engineers Local 520 and Edwardsville Moose Lodge 1561.
He was born in Edwardsville on Nov. 24, 1918, a son of the late Henry and Bertha (Schmitt) Ax.
Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Suessen; a brother, Robert A. Ax of Edwardsville;
and four sisters, Agnes Harrell, Mildred Ferguson and Marie Paproth, all of Edwardsville, and Helen Fesser of Evergreen Park.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ax.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. Monday until service time at 1 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home in
Edwardsville. The Rev. Charles Dahlby will officiate.
Burial is in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates at Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Disease Association.
